Abstract: Recent technological developments have shown significant potential for transforming urban mobility. Considering first- and last-mile travel and short trips, the rapid adoption of dockless bike-share systems showed the possibility of disruptive change, while simultaneously presenting new challenges in fleet management and use of public spaces. At the same time, further advances are expected from adoption of electric vehicles and various forms of vehicle autonomy. In this work, I focus on a potential emerging form of transportation, scooters that can reposition themselves autonomously.
