Abstract: This presentation will address the attraction and retention of highly qualified labor force (termed as knowledge-workers) within the metropolitan regions, as they are the critical individual agents of knowledge transmission and creation in the age of knowledge economy. It will offer a conceptual framework through which to analyze the preference and choice of residential location, workplace location, as well as the commute mode among knowledge-workers.
